Underestimating Business Majors “You’re a business major!? Oh, so you did not get into engineering school.” That is the reaction most college of business students receive when they tell people they are majoring in the business field. Countless people underestimate business majors. However, there are many things that go into being a business major. Majoring in this field requires adopting numerous skill sets that range from corporate skills to everyday communication, such as balancing funds, managing companies and pleasing customers. This first photograph I captured on my first day at UM-Dearborn College of Business. The glass archway and the revolving doors were a taste of my upcoming experience. I pictured myself opening these for the coming three years as if I am entering my home.   Business has always been my passion ever since I was in high school. My journey commenced in my junior year where I decided to sign up for business classes to earn my elective credits. Sig...

Studying with a partner has always been a typical tradition among college students. This photograph demonstrates two students incorporating humor while studying to breakout from college distress. Many believe that one needs a quiet environment and set typical studying conditions to concentrate better. However, it is important that we experience various conductive studying conditions because it boosts the neural activity and aids the brain to concentrate better. One of the bonuses that this campus has to offer is The Fieldhouse. It is a functional gym with a track included on the inside. Students don’t have to pay for a membership, they just need their student ID. A lot of students will end their day here to work out some stress or better themselves. Also on this campus, a lot of people are engaged in a sport, there are over 14 sports offered for students to join and compete with other colleges. There are a lot of programs and extra-circulars that students can be apart of and th...

Human Trafficking The image I chose portrays a visual stereotype of human trafficking of women. This lingering issue is  taking place all around the globe where women are forced into sex work. The main reactions that accompany an audience when viewing the image is fear and a sense of insecurity. The demonstrated frightfulness in the victim’s wide-open eyes are imploring the audience to get into action, since her powerless voice is blocked by a man’s hand, which represents the focal point in the image. The foreground is represented by the girl’s face that is centered behind the hand. From the context of the picture, one might conclude that the presented hand is not meant to aid her, but to hurt her. Whereas the background’s coloration is displayed in black; this color is often associated with evilness, power, and strength. This bespeaks the authority of the trafficker over the victim. The image contains a caption that says, “this is not how she imagined her first job.” One can ...

Response 2 In the political cartoon by Bob Englehart, the author argues that student loans are considered a weight   on the graduate’s back. The cartoons depicts that the student is   not able to get away from student debt, even though he is looking into the future hoping to build and create himself. However, it is blocked by the amount of student loans he owes. Student loans are blocking him from being able to enjoy and create the future he has hoped for because student debt is weighing him down and blocking his vision. The student is arguing to an audience of lenders or a third-party loan servicing company regarding his student debt being this huge amount of money that must be paid back on time with a payment overdue rate enforced. The purpose of the argument is to help people and loan servicing companies to realize that student debt is a weight on a graduate’s back even after graduations. Moreover, it argues to lower college tuition to be more affordable by st...
