Chrysler Ad Analysis: Born of Fire https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKuwda1UJ4A Throughout the ad, “Born of Fire”, Chrysler aims to appeal to their audience of American consumers. In order to capture and motivate their viewers they use a few different techniques. Chrysler focuses on both pathos and ethos, to persuade their audience to purchase their cars, as well as the context of their economy to emphasize why to buy an “Imported from Detroit” car. Some of these themes are also applied in another ad created by Chrysler titled “It’s Halftime America” In order to sell the idea that their product is a luxurious product of hard work, and one that buyers can be proud of, Chrysler includes an appeal to pathos through determination and hope. Thoughts on  Euthyphro and The Apology by Plato Post reading Plato’s dialogue, Euthyphro and The Apology, one concludes that Socrates is one of the wisest and the humblest men among Greek Philosophers. However, the citizens of Athens did not acknowledge Socrates’ wiseness and the fact that he seeks nothing but the truth. In fact, he was accused of impiety and corrupting the youth.  Even though Socrates has no writings on his own, his student, Plato, proclaimed a wealth of his teachings through the dialogues he wrote. These writings reveal Socrates point of view about dying and death. In the dialogue, Socrates claim, “a man who is good for anything ought to calculate the chance of living or dying; he ought only to consider whether in doing anything he is right or wrong-acting the part of a good man or of a bad.” This suggests that Socrates is more concerned about the quality of life, rather than its length and how one decides to live it. Beyonce's Music Video Analysis: Pretty Hurts Beyonce’s music video, Pretty Hurts, uses a montage of disturbing clips, story   progression, references to beauty pageants, and gender stereotypes to portray how women are pushed to adopt a certain standard of perfection. The video contains shots of model-like women behind the scenes of a beauty pageant. The presented clips include a fast-paced presentation of close-ups and long shots that expose the hardships the women endure in order to maintain the beauty standards society places on them.  The first scene shows behind the scene type images of the beautiful women getting ready for the pageant. This sets the tone of realism for the entire video. The music video also has a storyline that pauses the music for dialogue.
